How did you start your journey into wellness?

I was raised on a farm in the local hinterland by my mum who was very much into alternative holistic health and my dad who is a farmer. Wellness & holistic living was definitely in my blood.

Around age 36 I began to suffer from adrenal fatigue, panic attacks and anxiety, caused by the pressures of life - being a mum of 2, wife, working in a marketing job that didn't feel congruent with my soul, financial pressures, combined with self inflicted people pleasing and perfectionism ways. This was a huge wake up call and quite a dark and challenging time of my life, with the help and support of my family, beloved holistic practitioners and an inner determination combined with a willingness to be well and heal, I incorporated practices, foods, herbs & supplements to support my healing and transformation journey.

Once I reached a place where I felt more centred, balanced, strong & grounded I started seeking ways I could help others through the lessons learnt from my experiences, one synchronicity after another led me to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I studied to become a holistic wellness coach and after a few years and many more synchronicities I enrolled in yoga teacher training and became a yoga practitioner.

What trainings / studies have you completed?

Institute for Integrative Nutrition - Integrative Nutrition Health Coach

Soulprenuers - Business Training

Creature Yoga - 600 hrs RYT

Who are your teachers and how do they inspire you?
My amazing teachers are Rose Baudin, Bess Prescott, Tahl Rinsky & Dana Diament, they inspire me with how they live their lives on the daily and how they share the teachings of yoga through both their life experiences and through their classes/lectures.

How has your yoga practice evolved over the years?

My yoga practice has evolved from being a purely physical practice to being a purely spiritual practice.

My practice is a way to create space on all the levels of my being to connect with the divine. It's become a way to create an open, empty field where all the vasanas (deep habitual tendencies/patterns) come to the surface to be acknowledged and released so that I can be a better person for both myself and all those around me and move forward in life in the best possible way.

My practice is a way to connect with 'witness consciousness' so that I am observing rather than reacting and taking action from a place of awareness, groundedness & centredness.

Tell us more about the retreats you run?

Rasa Lila Yoga Retreats is all about reconnecting to the sweetness of life.

Rasa is Sanskrit for sweet, juicy nectar.

Lila is the goddess of cosmic play.

Together these two words come together to mean;

Sweet Juicy Act.

And this is exactly what Rasa Lila Yoga Retreats encapsulates. Intentional, luxe retreats designed to help you reconnect to the Rasa Lila of life through the wisdom and practices of yoga, tantra, and ayurveda.

Life consists of both light & dark, one can’t exist without the other. Through the darkness, although super uncomfortable, we have the opportunity to cultivate growth, courage, strength, kindness, selflessness, empathy, love & generosity.

But sometimes in the darkness we get a little stuck, often when we get stuck we struggle with a 'lack' or 'not good enough' mindset & lose the sense of joy & gratitude for our lives, the medicine of our retreats opens your heart up to experiences of rest, pleasure & beauty which elevate your vibrational frequency & help you to discover new solutions to old issues.

When we allow ourselves to be in an environment conducive to spaciousness, joy, light & playfulness, inner healing & transformation manifest.

This is where the medicine of Rasa Lila Yoga Retreats comes in, Cat & I have formed the most beautifully heart opening, soul nourishing, rasa (sweet juicy nectar) inducing, playful, pleasurable, divine retreat offering, a magical container to soothe your soul & open the heart.

Our next retreat offering is November 26th - 29th in the Byron Hinterland. https://www.rasalilayogaretreats.com

What do you teach as a wellness coach?

As a wellness coach I offer a safe, nurturing container for my clients to open up and uncover their inner wisdom - we absolutely all know what we need to be the best versions of ourselves.

I offer mentoring on nutrition, self care, spiritual, movement, relationship, soul work and lifestyle practices and support my clients to become the healthiest, happiest versions of themselves on every level, helping them to move forward in their lives in the best possible way.

Tips on how to maintain wellness and yoga practices from home during lockdown?

Set up a dedicated space including an altar and your mat and props for your practice so that it's ready to go, one less hurdle to overcome between you and doing your practice.

Subscribe to an online studio that you resonate with, if they offer live classes, take this option so you are accountable to attend at the time of the live daily, as you would if you were going to the studio.

Eat a nourishing, wholefoods meal when you are hungry, avoid snacking.

Use the extra time at home to experiment with your favourite cookbook and create some healthy deliciousness.

Structure your day well ie. early to bed...early to rise, create and commit to a beautifully soul nourishing morning routine including your yoga practice, if you are working from home during lockdown, you also have the option to schedule in a second practice on your lunch break or straight after your work day is complete.
