Eye of Horus

We interview Samantha O’Brien, General Manager of Eye Of Horus Cosmetics - luxury, clean beauty featured in Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and Russh.

Describe your typical working day?

No two days are the same (which I love). My workday generally begins with a coffee and check-in with the team. From there, I jump into meetings with key stakeholders for upcoming projects and tackle my top-line tasks of the day. Lately, this has revolved around the implementation of a new warehouse and inventory management system as well as brand planning and strategic direction for 2022. I get to exercise both left and right sides of my brain in this role which is a huge tick for me.

You work with a great team. What's your leadership style?

Strategic leadership; I think it's integral to have a clear vision and roadmap to achieving goals and objectives. Strategic agility, integrity and clear communication is key to ensuring the team is confident and feels empowered working towards a common goal.

Have you always loved beauty?

Yes! I am hugely passionate about all things beauty - in particular skincare and makeup. I completed a diploma in beauty therapy straight out of high school so I could refine my skills and knowledge in the field and then moved on to pursue my career in marketing and brand management. I spent 5 years working for Australian skincare brand - MooGoo where I discovered my passion and the importance of quality, natural ingredients in beauty. After a brief hiatus in fashion/accessories, I rejoined the beauty industry with Eye of Horus and haven’t looked back.

We love the new website and retail store. What can we expect to see from the brand next?

Thank you! The team has been working hard to prepare for the launch of some new products, one of which will also mark our entrance into a new category. We will also be extending our offering to include refillable beauty solutions in 2022 which has been a long-term dream for the business owners, Holly and Heather.

Fave three EOH products you are loving right now?

The Goddess Mascara, Seven Seed Sacred Oil & Brow Define are my go-to #EOHbeauty essentials.

Tips to achieve the perfect brow?

Work with your natural shape and select the right product for your desired result. When applying, begin at the base of your brows, using your product of choice (I can't go past the Brow Define and Dual Brow Perfect) to fill in any gaps and add shape to the brow in strokes that mimic the hair’s natural growth. Once you’ve achieved your desired shape, use a brow gel (available in the Dual Brow Perfect) to comb over the hairs and set them in place for all day wear.

Best way to create a beautiful pout?

Again, i'm a big believer in working with and accentuating your natural beauty. Begin by applying the Artistry Lip Liner in your preferred shade, starting with the outer corners of your mouth, towards the cupid's bow to create symmetry. Keep in mind that anything too dark can make the lips appear smaller. This matte, long wearing formula will prevent product from bleeding throughout the day and balances out the shape of the mouth. Using the Goddess Lipstick in your desired shade, apply to the centre of the mouth to add colour to the rest of the lips and complete the look with the Bio Lip Elixir for a glossy, non-stick finish.

Top beauty trends we can expect to see this Spring / Summer 21/22?

Bright skin and bold lips! Fresh, luminous skin is here to stay - think a seemingly ‘foundation free’ finish paired with bold lips for a pop of colour. High gloss is also having a huge moment which can easily elevate any makeup look.
